Slow Cooker Recipes - Make Cheap Meat Tender

Delicious slow cooker recipes makes tough meat tender and your cooking easier.

The slow cooker, or crockpot, allows you to put in ingredients in the morning and leave them in all day. The result is any recipe you use becomes a taste tempting meal that you come home to after work.

Forget about cutting your meat with a knife because it will be pulling apart.

The following slow cooker recipes will make you and your family yearn for dinner. . .

Slow Cooker Recipe - Chicken 'n Dumplings

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut in small chunks
2 cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup onion, finely diced
2 cups water
2 10 oz packages refrigerated biscuits
1 chicken bouillon cube

Combine all ingredients, except biscuits, in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours.
30 minutes before serving, tear biscuit dough into 1-inch pieces. Add to your slow cooker; stirring gently.
Cover and cook on HIGH for an additional 30 minutes or until biscuits are fluffed up and cooked through.

Slow Cooker Recipe - Apple Pie Coffee Cake

Yep - Dessert in a slow cooker . . .

Apple Mixture
1 can (20 oz) apple pie filling, apple slices broken up somewhat
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons brown sugar
Cake Batter:
2 small yellow cake mixes (Jiffy - 9-ounce each)
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sour cream (light)
3 tablespoons softened butter or margarine
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon butter or margarine for greasing slow cooker

Combine ingredients for apple mixture in a small bowl.
Combine batter ingredients; mix well.
Generouslly butter the sides and bottom of a 3 1/2 quart slow cooker. Spread about half the apple mixture in the bottom of the pot.
Spoon 1/2 the batter over the apple mixture. Spoon theremaining apple mixture over the batter, then cover with remaining batter.
Cover and cook on high for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
Turn heat off, leave cover ajar slightly, and cool for about 15 minutes. Invert on a plate, retrieving any apples left in the bottom of the pot and placing on top of the cake. Makes a cake about 7 inches in diameter and 3 1/2-inches high.

Slow Cooker Recipe - Apple Pie

8 Tart Apples peeled and sliced
1-1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1-1/2 cup Bisquick, divided
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter, cold

In a large bowl, mix apples with cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. Pour apple mixture in lightly greased slow cooker.
Combine milk, softened butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and 1/2 cup of the Bisquick. Pour over apples.
Combine the remaining Bisquick with the brown sugar. Cut cold butter into Bisquick mixture until crumbly. Sprinkle this mixture over top of apple mixture.
Cover and cook on low 6 to 7 hours or until apples are soft.

Slow Cooker Recipe - BBQ Bean Soup with Short Ribs

1 Pound Great Northern beans, soaked
2 Teaspoons salt
1 Medium onion, chopped
1/8 Teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
2 Pounds beef short ribs
6 Cups water
3/4 Cup barbecue sauce

Place all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours.

Slow Cooker Roast Recipe

I'm always giving you a recipe for slow cookers but sometimes you might simply want to slow cook meat all day long for the tenderest piece of meat you can get.

Pour 2 cups of water into the slow cooker and season it with onion powder, garlic powder; whatever other seasonings you might like. In fact, try replacing 1 cup of water with 1 cup of tomato sauce for a delicious and different taste.

Brown a roast on 2 sides and place in the slow cooker. I like it to cook all day long on low. Then I make up mashed potatoes at suppertime, pull out the roast, pour the juice in a pan and make gravy and . . . . . I'm telling you. Talk about delicious!

The roast will fall apart and no knife is needed. I cooked it this way at my mother-in-laws house and when it was time to serve, she got out the carving knifes. I told her "Don't need em.". She didn't believe me until I pulled the roast out of the slow cooker and it was falling apart while I transfered it.


1/3-1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage
15 oz can stewed tomatoes, chopped
4 cans(8 oz) sliced mushrooms (do not drain)
1/4-1/2 tsp. onion &/or garlic powder
1/2 tsp. basil &/or oregano
3 (1 lb.) cans Italian style green beans, 2 of them drained
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Brown sausage and drain. Add all ingredients except green beans. Mix thoroughly and simmer for 15 minutes. Add green beans and mix.

Bake at 250 degrees in a covered casserole for 30 minutes to 2 hours; or in a slow cooker on low up to 3 hours.
