Healthy Recipes for Weight Loss

When I say we are going to discuss healthy recipes for weight loss, I can see you rolling your eyes as you start thinking about the yucky tasting meals I will likely be talking about.


Well c'mon. If you've been reading my articles on healthy recipes you know the focus is not only on the recipe being healthy; it also means it needs to taste good.

Healthy eating isn't just about diet per se. I shutter when someone mentions a diet because way too often that means eliminating something you need nutritionally.

Take the Atkin's Diet for example. I'm not here to argue the good and bads about it. But why on earth would you want to eliminate carbohydrates from your diet?! Carbohydrates provide fuel for your body and are a necessity.

As the School of Harvard points out "The best sources of carbohydrates—whole grains, vegetables, fruits and beans—promote good health by delivering vitamins, minerals, fiber, and a host of important phytonutrients."

Certainly eating large amounts of white bread, pastries and such won't be on your list for healthy recipes for weight loss, but you can eat them as well in moderation. healthy recipes for weight loss You want to focus on fruits and vegetables. How about trying to eat some yogurt as your dairy product? A switch from whole mile to 2% also works. Yes, you can go 1% or skim milk but that's not on my list of favorites.

Put together a fruit salad with yogurt as the base and cut up and mix in pieces of banana, apple, oranges, mango; whatever you like. This healthy recipe for weight loss can be a meal in itself. I can't eat much in the summer for lunch because it's too hot. But both my wife and I eat plenty of this fruit salad.

Dress up some of your recipes by adding cut up pieces of chicken. I grill my chicken and then we cut it up and add it to a salad. Not always, understand. I love chicken and eat it once or twice a week.
