Diabetic Diet Foods to Avoid

If you are on a diabetic diet, there are some foods you should avoid eating.

Some of the food diabetics should steer clear of would be foods that includes white flour. What this means is you need to avoid (at least drastically cut down) eating white breads or white rice whenever possible. You also should avoid eating too much red meat, eggs, honey, as well as dairy foods.

It is fairly obvious that you should anything sugary or sweet. These products should be completely banished out of your diet regime. Other diabetic food items to protect yourself from consist of items which include high-fat content. You need to keep away from fatty foods as much as you can due to the fact they are often very damaging for your overall health and are of no benefit to you.

Basically . . .

Begin by eating smaller portions. Learn what a serving size is for various foods and how many servings you should be getting in a meal.Eat less fat. Choose fewer of the high-fat foods and use less fat when cooking. You particularly need to limit foods that are high in saturated fats or trans fat, such as:

* Fatty cuts of meat.* Whole milk and dairy products made from whole milk.* Cakes, candy, cookies, crackers, and pies.* Fried Foods* Salad dressings.* Lard, shortening, stick margarine, and nondairy creamers

Eat fewer foods which contain high sugar content, such as:

* Fruit-flavored drinks.* Sodas.* Teas or coffee sweetened with sugar.

Finally, begin using less salt while cooking and on your meals. Also, eat fewer foods high in salt, such as:

* Canned and package soups.* Canned vegetables.* Pickles.* Processed meats.

Don't worry. That sounds like a lot of stuff to remove from your diet but it's just an overview. Next we will be discussing what you should eat.

My wife was a diabetic for over 40 years until she received a pancreas transplant recently. Healthy food has always been something we strived for and, of course, our menu had to be planned around her needs.
